Oh Lover Boy! was the result of a long-term collaboration between Franko B and Manuel Vason. Vason collaborated as a photographer with Franko B for a period of two years monitoring and documenting Franko’s live performances (1999 – 2001). The extended collaboration matured into a deeper sense of trust. With the time, Vason grow a more profound understanding of Franko’s work and, at the same time, had the opportunity to record Franko just before or just after the various live performances. It is during this time that Vason understood the potentiality of ‘performances for camera’.
After the book was published Vason continued to record Franko B live Performances.
The book looks at Franko B’s work from the 90’s onwards, and considers his objects alongside the more well-known performances.
The book contains text by Sarah Wilson and an interview between the artist and Gray Watson.
